 Target Date Funds
If you do not wish to actively manage your Retirement Plan investments on your own, target date funds may be for you. These funds automatically adjust over time to help meet changing risk and return objectives up to and beyond the target date. By choosing the fund that closely matches your expected retirement date, as well as other factors important to your planning objectives, you help set your Retirement Plan in motion with the help of professional investment managers.
WHAT ARE TARGET DATE FUNDS?
Target date funds were developed for participants who want to contribute and save for retirement, but desire a professional to manage their investment and asset allocation decisions. Each target date fund is spread across multiple asset classes, such as stocks and bonds. These funds are set up so that you can direct your investments into one fund, from the time you begin to save until you retire. It is recommended that you review your investment choices at least annually to help ensure they remain aligned with your retirement savings goals.
HOW TARGET DATE FUNDS WORK:
• Select a fund with a date that’s on or near the date you intend to retire (such as 2040) and that also complements your financial strategy.
• Investment professionals will make the decisions about investments and asset allocation for the underlying funds.
• The mix of investments shifts to more conservative over time as the portfolio is adjusted for risk.
