Michael Block: Okay, so we talk a lot about hooks and slices and straight balls in the golf swing, but not a lot of people talk about it in their short game. So I’m going to explain that really quickly here for you. And you’re going to determine which one’s best for you.

Michael Block: Now, the first one is the draw or the hook, with the wedge. A little bit back in the stance. Club face is slightly shut. I’m going to bring it a little inside and release it coming through. That’s obviously going to release more.

Michael Block: The second one is straight back, straight through, with a square club face. Now, I don’t keep it square going back, but I’m going to start square and let it open up and let it release naturally. Straight back, straight through.

Michael Block: And then the last one is more of a little cutter slice move, which I’m going to open up my stance slightly. I’m going to take the club a little more outside and in and hold the face open as I come through impact. This one usually creates a little more spin.

Michael Block: Now, the best players in the world can determine which one of these they’re going to do based on the shot they have. But for you, I want you to find which one works the best for you under pressure. So the next time you’re in the short game area at your club, try all three, and see which one you can make happen without trying too hard. And good luck.
